Dreamwave G1 Ongoing Test Page by 1DB Dreamwave G1 Ongoing Test Page by 1DB
Apparently DW is looking for new colorists and they are letting people color this page and then submit it at the San Diego Comic-con. I'm not going, but I took a stab anyways at coloring the page.

Took me twice as long as it should have, but then I only worked in short bursts on this pic at most.

This page is from the ongoing G1 #5, drawn by Don Figueroa.

You suck. :P

Seriously, I'll alway say it: I love your colouring. I LOVE it. You've got lighting down nigh-flawlessly. You really handle cel colouring beautifully, though I would like to see the same page done in your traditional method.

And, if no one else will say it, I will...SKYFIRE LUVS SCREAMER! *RUNS!*

Another high quality study in color from that master of the color spectrum Eric. I love it! You're positively one of the best colorists I've seen.

Aw, nutbunnies, that's too bad. Would have liked to have had another former-fanartist to cheer for and swoon over when reading the comics. ^_^ Although, becoming official kind of limits the original TF art you can do, doesn't it? Then again, it might just be worth it. *L*

Sweet coloring, I don't know how you do it... I'm always amazed by those who can cel-color and do it well.

It's kinda old, but I have three pages in Armada #17. I also did some coloring in the TF MTMTE #2 and #3.

I used to think cel shading was incredibly hard...I couldn't really understand how to do it. I kept wanting to do gradients when I first attemped to do cel.

Thanks!

very well done and i like the execution of blues in the flames, shocks and glowing from jetfire's eyes. the detail spent on the bottom middle panel's background looks awesome! i think maybe some reflected blue from jetfire's uh... jetfire would be reflecting off starscream (if only slightly)...though... what am i saying? i don't see colors too too well anyways. overall i'm happy to see the amount of clarity and detail you maintained from the original art.

It's funny...every time I do a test page I get to do something new. This time it was the jet exhaust...fun times, glad you like.

As for the the lack of reflected light on Screamer... I don't really think he is close enough to the actual light source to really get any reflections that we would see.

As for that one panel background you like... I actually did that one last and was so tired of doing the work that I don't feel I really did a good job. Heh...

Great job. I'd think it WAS an official DW coloring job had I not known better. Your quality is right up on par with theirs and it's a shame you won't get the chance to submit this.

Thanks. I've actually done work for DW before so it's not like I don't have ways to get them to see this. I'd love to send this in and get some feeback from the DW guys, only problem is if anything good were to come of this - like some potential work....I just don't really have the time. :(

Never thought I'd hear someone say they have a (potential) opportunity to work on some official Transformers stuff, but decline because they don't have the time, heh. Mind boggling to a talentless TF fan like myself who would KILL for such an opportunity.

Anyways, what have you done for DW? Some of the MTMTE profiles? If so, which ones?

Believe me, it kills me too. But my dad needed my help getting his new company started and at the time I didn't have anything else so I couldn't really say no...and I can't just walk away right now. However, I do some stuff for DW on the side...or did.

I colored a few pages back in Armada #17, and colored Nemesis Prime and Runover's alts, robot mode colors for Ironhide, Zapmaster, Sparkplug, Perceptor, Highwire, Sureshock, Grindor, Inferno, Ramjet, Windsheer, PLX Jolt, PLX Hot Shot, and Swindle.

Sweet...I loved Nemesis Prime and Runover(especially since their MTMTE bios were the only chance you ever got to see them in the comics). Wish I could say the same about the others you colored but I'm still waiting for my copy of Armada's MTMTE #3 to get here, cause milehighcomics screwed up my stupid order. I should be getting it by the end of the week though actually, and I look forward to seeing the rest of your work in that too. And I dunno which pages you colored in Arm #17, but that whole issue kicked ass and looked nice as hell. That's pretty cool that you got a chance to color a piece of the best story ark in Armada. Get a chance to color any of the G1 chars in that one?

Well it's hard to really say anything about coloring the alt modes since the art was so tiny in print. Regardless I'm happy that I got to do it.

As for Armada #17, I colored the pages with the military team shooting the starsaber out of Meg's hand. Then the following page when the Minicons do the dimensional jump. I always mess up the exact page numbers, but the first of the three is with the military guys in the trees...
